Australian Legends, Last Anzacs

The set commemorates the 85th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing in World War I, paying respectful homage to the remaining few ANZAC survivors and to the many that were lost then and since. What is believed to be the world's last Gallipoli survivor, Alec Campbell, died in Australia May 2002. He was provided with a state funeral and a large national outpouring of respect.




Postal numismatic covers consisting of a specimen quality 2000 Last Anzacs Dollar coin and four 45 cent Australian Legends Postage Stamps were jointly issued by Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra on 21st January, 2000



The postage stamps have been canceled with a specially worded ink mark which reads 'First Day of Issue 21 January 2000 Canberra ACT 2600' The Last ANZACS'
