Australian Postal Numismatic Covers

1997 $5 UNC

Sir Donald Bradman

This pack was struck as a special tribute to Sir Donald Bradman who gained international recognition for his cricketing prowess over a career spanning the mid 1920's to the late 1940's. This coin has the same design as that used on the bi-metal coin struck in 1996 - the only difference being the date on the obverse.

The coin, not intended for circulation, was distributed as part of this pack and is not available as an individually issued coin.
A total of 275,000 packs consisting of a specimen quality 1997 Bradman bi-metal five dollar coin and two 45 cent Bradman Postage Stamps were jointly issued by Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra on 23rd January, 1997.

The postage stamps have been cancelled with a specially worded ink mark which reads 'First day of issue 23 January 1997 Bowral NSW 2576'
