Australian $1 Coins

2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games Unc Coin

It would seem the influence of the Melbourne Mint is not yet dead at the Royal Australian Mint.
When the RAM was established most of the expertise came from Melbourne Mint staff.
The 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games sees the release of 23 gazillion different coins. The M mint marked one dollar coin being another addition.

Released in Feb 2006, This is a mint to demand product and if past sporting releases are any indication should sell well initially.
Unfortunately public opinion is quite fickle and after the golden glow settles, no-one really cares or wants anything to do with the memorabilia. Why?, because the 2008 Olympics is the next big thing, another 45 squillion coins to get, then we have the 2010 Commonwealth Games ad infinitum.
